Brakes squeak??!!

The rotors are really good, and the pads aren't bad. My problem is thebrakes squeak when im not even touching the brake pedal. IS there a spring or some sort of release mechanism that spreads the pads back apart. I have cleaned the brakes several times and it works for a few miles, then back to normal. I looked for a spring last time i cleaned them when i had the tire off, but i didnt have time to take the calipers apart.

My understanding is that there is a piece of metal that causes the squeak when the pad is at it's wear limit. You might have your brakes checked by a mechanic to see if they need new pads.

The calipers ride on slide pins, make sure they are lubed good with brake grease.

Im gonna go ahead and get new pads, and while they are off, clean and lube everything really well. Thanx for the replies.

Good move on the new pads. Some aftermarket pads, being of whatever material, cause squeaks. Therefore, my suggestion would be to bite the bullet and see the dealer parts department (I think they are around $45). After all, the dealer's service department wouldn't want to waste time on rework, they want it right the first time.
