Plugs and Wires

What kind of plugs and wires would you all recommend? I was thinking Bosch Platinum 4 plugs and MSD wires? How does that sound? They have different size wires (8mm vs. 8.5mm or something like that). What is the difference?

the platinum plugs certainly last longer although i replaced the platinum plugs i had with copper ones when they got old and fouled just cuz the copper was cheaper and i didnt really tell any difference in how she runs (but the plugs were old when i first had it)

i think the thicker wire is supposed to have less resistance a.k.a. better timing between spark and max compression

but like i said the cheap motorcraft plugs and the base autozone wires work for me .... i certianly dont want my bronco becoming a spoiled brat! lol

Thanks, I guess I'm just trying to figure out if they're worth the money.

Anybody know anything about Ford Racing Wires? They seem a lot cheaper than MSD.

The Ford Racing wire set is an excellent choice. I would also suggest Motocraft plugs.

Ford racing wires are excellent and correct length. But they are thick and may not fit your loom. I use Motorcraft plat plugs too. With a MSD coil so they fire real nice.

plat plugs are garbage. copper is a better conductor to electricity so your basic autolites or motorcraft plugs will do fine. fords 9mm wires are also a very good choice . good price and fit well and last to.

yes, the bosch plugs are junk. never get them. i had them and i had to clean them off every thousand miles until i went with OEM plugs. its been about 4000 miles and no problems. the parts stores push the platinums because they make the most profit off of them. go into autozone or pepboys and ask for plugs. i am willing to bet that they hand you bosch platinums. i dont know about where you are from, but behind the counter of my parts store are just some joe schmoes that think changing their oil is a big task. i get the wrong part more times then i get the right one. "Oh yeah, those plugs are the best!" B.S.! if you want to get a little more performance, go with the motorcraft platinums. the ford racing plug wires are aweome.

platinum is just not a good conductor of electricity so why pay for something that doesnt work any better then copper plugs.

Yup, Bosch +4 biggest waste of money I have spent in a long time. Still kicking myself for that one. Motorcraft plugs, Taylor wires works well for me. MSD Ignition and Crane Fireball coil if your budget supports.
