Post bent pushrods

i have a 77 f150 351m,less than 100mi on motor,redone entire motor having problems bending pushrods. heads were redone also,resurfaced,valve job w 4 xhaust valves replaced. is there a clearanse spec. between the rocker & valve? allready bought shims for fulcrums,can't adjust properly,every shop is a chevy shop here ,any ideas?

Chevy, Dodge, Ford, it makes no difference when determining push rod length. Sounds like they dont know how to ckeck it.

You should check your lifter preload for all the valves. Crane has the proceedure on their web site. Some time the machine work can eat up all the clearances in the valve train. Also, are you sure the push rods are seated in the lifter? If you get them on the edge it's a problem.

Also if you do have too tight clearances in the valve train you will start burning valves in short order if not corrected.

if your running aftermarket valve springs then you need to change the retainers on the exhaust valves.
