I am currently using Valvoline Premium Blue 15-40 diesel oil, and Motorcraft FL1995 oil filter. I changed over from using Delo 400 15-40, and the Valvoline seems to have quieted down some rattles in my motor. Of course, I have only had it in for 1500 miles, and its early to compare very deep.

I know there are several brands of good diesel oil to choose from. I have been using the Ford Power Stroke oil 15w40 with no problems. I have heard or read somewhere this oil has a good anti-foaming quality. I always use the Motor Craft FL1995 oil filter. I guess most can only agree if you change the oil and filter like the book calls for, and use the correct quality oil and filter that is the most important issue.

Amsoil is well worth the money...extended drain intervals and a slight increase in fuel mileage..

Rotella oil for me. I looked into buying Amsoil for a while, but looking at the cost overall, I did the calculation and it was much cheaper for me to buy my oil at Wallmart. I don't doubt that Amsoil is a good oil, just couldnt justify the $$! Recently I also switched from Rotella 15w-40 to Rotella Sythetic, and I did notice the engine running quieter and getting a little better fuel milage. I love the stuff in the winter!

Weldboy I also have run the numbers. However, I want to see some oil samples with the Rotella. I have seen some with Delo (My own) and have some with Amsoil. So I would like to see some with the Rotella. My issue is the wear and tear on the engine as opposed to actual cost of the oil.

HDmustF250, Which one do you use? Is it because of initial cost, or overall cost of wear protection. I tow a trailer and heat is a concern to me.I'm looking for best protection, but don't want to throw money away. Also if using Amsoil, is it necessary to use their filters also or are the motorcraft ok?

I am tired of hearing this scamsoil moron blabbling BS about scamsoil. It is not a API rated oil and could cause sever engine damage. I beleve this is a dealer so far his posts have all been pro-scamsoil.

I agree, stay as far away from Scamsoil as you can, and ANY product sold by a MLM company!!! The use of a NON-API certified oil WILL void your vehicle manufacturer's warranty!!!

Check your PM's. I have my latest oil analysis that I can send you a copy of. BTW, I'm a life-long Shell Rotella T 15W-40 user and have had no problems with it.

I swear that every time I see someone who is pushing Amsoil, it seems they only have about 5 posts. Is this someone who keeps changing their name so they don't get tracked as a troll? They never seem to have a signature either.

I only have 7 or 8 post, so lets say something good about amsoil, every used oil analysis I seen so far ( about must be a 1000 ) there is no difference in how long your engine going to last , any diesel rated engine oil is more than adequate to do what it supposed to do , regardless of brand , I seen excellent results with amsoil, red line ( both non API approved ) , delvac1 , petro canada , rotella, delo if you want to see some of UOA go to bobistheoilguy.com, and ask you question there , you get response from guys who REALLY know what they talking about since some them are chemist working in Labs , and not some morons who have not idea about this subject , Best regards . If you don't know what you talking about then shut up ( by the way I think the best diesel oil you can get for you money is Duron made by Petro Canada )

Iv'e always used Delo, but recently switched to Rotella because of #1 all the positive posts and #2 Wallyworld has it for $29 for a 5 gal bucket. My mileage has improved over 80 miles per tank since the switch. No other variables to explain the mileage increase.

Only thing I've ever used after break in is Delvac 1. I used it in my 7.3, and now I use it in my 6.0. It's nice to see 1.5mpg increase.

I have a '95' F-250 Powerstroke which I just purchased. None of the owners manual info discusses foaming, only API certification. Is there a anti-foaming agent I am supposed to add at oil change?
