cleaning pcv valve
I have oil coming out of my pcv valve on top of the valve cover . 1981 f150 6 cyl. Do you think I can clean the pcv valve and tube that runs to the air filter? Will this work and should I try some high mileage oil additive (engine restorer)? What brand do you recommend? I am going through about 2-3 qts per week . Low driving.

Try replacing the pvc valve (their dirt cheap, like 2-3 bucks) It's basically a ball bearing inside a plastic housing, that opens up when enough pressure is built up-yours could be fouled up. As to the oil consumption, I really don't know. Engine oil flush? or Seafoam? due to the crud build up? causing the oil to "squirt" out

Replace the PCV valve rather than clean it. Just because it rattles does not mean it is good. The valves wear out and do not meter the airflow properly. The PCV should be replaced annually.
If you have PCV problems and the valve hasn't been replaced in the last 6 months replace the valve.
