I am looking at a F350 crewcab 4x2. The guy has it advertised as a 76. The build date on the cab is 10-76. Vin #states its a 77 with a 400. The guy says it hass a 360 or 390 not sure. It also has dually rearend with single wheels. How can I tell yhe difference between a 76 and 77 besides grill and body parts. It also has box with doors covering the fuel cap. One gas tank behind seat. My guess is its a 77 titled as a 76. What do you guys think?
If the model badging is on the fender, it is a 76, if it is up on the cowl piece of the cab on a level with the door mirrors, it is a 77.
400s started in the 77 model year, as did the fuel doors. But the 77 production started probably in Sept 76...
The vin # on the cab is F35SCO31307. It also had these #'s on that label F0022 T0475 I'm not 100% sure on the O's and 0's. It did have the crewcab badges on the fenders as well as fuel door covers. If I remember correctly the intake had the thermastat housing in it.
Does it matter what year it is??? The trucks are 30 years old, the value is not going to be any different being one year different. If it is what you want buy it. Just make sure the VIN on the title matches the VIN on the door and you should be good to go.
The year doesn't matter. I'm trying to figure out if it is the correct title for the frame and body was switched or if they took a title from another truck and used that title for this truck. It sounds like this guy didn't do anything to the truck. I'm guessing it was a previous owner that might have switched titles.
