I have recently purchased 1966 3/4 ton 4x4 pick-up. After looking at the truck, I have noticed that the VIN on the body and frame do not match. I suspect that it is a later model frame because it has power brakes with discs on the front, drums on the back, and power assist steering. I believe the VIN on the right frame rail is F26RB75881. Can anyone please tell me what year model this chassis may be? Also, where could I possibly find a Bendix Power Assist Cylinder? The shaft on the current cylinder is bent and leaking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Secondly, let me ktoss out something here. The vin F26 indicates that the frame is for a F250 4x4 (no surprise there..). Now here's some additional info I may need some light shined upon. could you have the R and the B transposed? I ask becasue the fourth digit is the engine code and the fifth is the assembly plant. I do not know of a R code engine and a B assembly plant, however, a B code engine is the 300 I6 and the R code assembly plant is San Jose... Then there is the numbering sequence. I think you are missing a digit, but, 758... would put you in the September 1965 assembly run.
There could have easily been the disk brake/PS conversoion completed on your truck and if I am not mistaken, the Bendix PS parts were not used after 65/66, but you should check with the experts like BanjoPicker66 and FordBoyPete on that one.
