E150 1995 speedometer bouncing, cruise control also
Hello,
I joint your forum today, I live in holland in the land of the small cars, but drive a E150. because petrol is about 6 dollars a gallon, my van runs on propane. I have it now since about 8 months, and am slowly working my way through it.
I changed filter and gear oil, now it shifts fine. I changed the pignon bearings in the rear end, including the differential bearings, and that reduced 15 dB of noise, meaning it is almost perfect. But I am stuck with a very annoying problem. My speedometer is bouncing up and down. when I drive slowly, it is just moving a little, but when I go faster, it jumps 20 mls up and down. As I read in the list I am not the only one with this problem, but I did not read a sollution yet. overhere it is very difficult to get parts for testing or trying. does anybody have any suggestions??
kind regards
henk

if it would be the needle motor, how does it effect my cruise control. the van reacts to the speed shown by the speedometer, wich is no fun to drive on cruise control

bikes and bouncing speedometers
Hello ""yakk"
Yes, holland is also the country of the bicycles too. a lot of the travelling is done by bike, and almost all roads are equipped with seperated lanes for it. my children travel 8 mls one way to school on a bkie. Then to your tip, I already opened the rear end because of noise, and installed new bearings. the rear end now runs fine again, but the speedometer stil jumps up and down
