Just purchased an Expy EB with the Rear Seat Entertainment System. Comes with remote and two wireless headphones.
A few questions:
1. Will the Control unit support more than two wireless headphones?
2. If so, any ideas on best place to buy additional headphones?
3. Anything special to watch out for?
Thanks,
Jim
ps - looked through lots of posts, finally gave up and decided to post instead.
I have little doubt that the unit will work with more headphones, my guess is that the factory system is an Audiovox (sp?). I would think the your local aftermarket installer could tell you more.
Based on Ford parts department, they only sell headphones (they do not sell remotes) and their price is 60.00 per headphone. Parts manager indicated that he believes any IR wireless headphones will work and that there should not be any problem driving more than two sets (e.g. 4 sets) at the same time. He indicated pricing would probably be better elsewhere.
EBay seems to be the only place you can find the complete sets (2 sets of headphones and remote). Not sure where they are getting these (perhaps they dropped off a truck?), but apparently these show up for auction from time to time.
You can use more than two headphones. Any IR wireless headphone should work just fine. I just purchased these http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=84012&m=0 last week from Circuit City for $35 and they work just the same as the two factory pairs I have.
I had the dealer install the DVD system. I'm running 5 IR headsets at the same time. Shouldn't make any difference on how many. If yours is an Infrared system like mine you should be able to pick them up at any aftermarket auto installation dealer. I got my extra headsets at Model Electronics on Rt 59 in Nanuet NY. I also set up a IR system in my livingroom for the TV. The 900MZ cordless headphones picked up too much static so I bought a Sony IR system. The home headphones work in the car and the car headphones work in the house. Overstaock.com may be a good place to look for IR headphones also. Good luck. It's really nice being able to load a DVD into the player and not having to listen to "Are we there yet".

When I got my truck the sales manager said the boxes that hold the 2 headphones and remote are shipped seperately from the truck and they "walk off" a lot.
Looks like you have an IR system. Go to your nearest auto electronics installer and let him test an IR headphone in your truck. It will most likely work great. You can add as many as you like then. Mine cost about $40 each If you want to take a chance Overstock.com has a couple of RCA IR Headphones on sale

Hi! I know this was an old post but I was wondering how the headphones are working out. One of my wireless ones (factory) got squished when my rear seat folded down (it was on the floor). It still works but lost its form LOL I was gonna purchase just 1 from Ford but I refuse to pay $60 for it! I'm interested in buying the above from Circuit City. Are they really just as good and will it work just as good as my factory ones? Thanks!

To date I have had no issues with them and they are used almost everyday. As far as the sound quality goes I can tell no difference between the factory and the non-factory. If anything I sort of like the non factory because they are not as bulky. Hope this helps...
