At Wally World there is a combo measure cup/funnel/strainer (keeps rocks out) with an on/off valve. It has a tube on the bottom for sticking in the filler neck. I have one of those and it is real handy. It was in the automotive oil area.
SBV45.Thanks for the info.on the funnel.I am a Wally World regular.I posted real late last night, got my numbers all crossed up on the additive stuff. It was 96oz.treats 300/150 gals. for +3/+6 cetane boost.Thats what I get for working too late.I was thinking about some two stroke fuel stabilizer I use in my bass boat, sort of tripping out and doing too much other stuff trying to type at the same time.
I quit using the fuel additive for a few weeks. Seems the engine was a little noisier. I let it go for a while and the last fillup I used Stanadyne Performance Formula. After about 30-40 miles, it seemed to be much quieter and smoother. Maybe my imaginaltion but I don't think so. Plus the little bit of white smoke at startup went away too.

I think Stanadyne is the best product available, but unfortunately it's not as widely available.
I ordered a couple cases of it at one time from Diesel Injection Service http://www.dieselpage.com/additive.htm. However, PS makes pretty good product and is highly available from WalMart, AutoZone, etc.
I use Stanadyne additive. I think because I use a fuel additive that my injectors have lasted as long as they have. I still have all the original C94 injectors and they have always tested clean. It also helps my mileage a bit. I am also in California with the low sulfur fuel so I think it helps with keeping the intake system lubed up.
Try it for a few tanks and see if you notice the truck starting/running better, and keep track of your calculated mileage filled to the neck. That is the only way that you will see a benefit.
With the exception of long trips, I never let my tank get below half full. In this case what amount of additive would I use when refilling? Is there a formula for this application?
Thanks
I have a 38 gal tank. With Power Service gray / silver I add .64 oz per gal of fuel added to tank.
A 32 oz bottle adds 6 cetane to 50 gals of treated fuel. (.64 oz/gal)
If I add .75 tank of fuel that equates to 28.5 gals on my truck. 28.5 gal x .64 = 18.24 oz of PS. I generally round down to the nearest whole #. In this scenario I would add 18 oz.
SBV45: I haven't found Stanadyne yet but haven't looked real hard either since PS is available right down the street. What is the stated potential cetane increase with treating 30 gal w/8 oz of Stanadyne?
If that formula works the initial higher cost of Stanadyne is reduced by the fact that only .27 oz/gal are required for a 5 point cetane gain vs .64 oz/gal of PowerService for a 6 point cetane gain. Veddy intelestink...
Convenience of availablilty vs bottom line cost becomes the real issue.
I get on the Internet and buy 2 cases. They deliver it to my door. I don't have to deal with soccer moms and snotty nosed kids at Wally World. Very convenient for me.
6,600 miles...use Power Service at every fill up. Being slightly color challenged I couldnt tell you if the bottle is silver or gray, but I'm chasing the highest cetane rating. I use .64 ounces per gal.
Started using it to early to tell if any MPG / or H.P. gain.
My purpose is to keep everything as clean as possible. You can't always know where your fuel is coming from, how old the ground tanks are, or what the fuel level is in the ground tanks. Not even sure of any cetane level at any given station. Wish they would post it.
I save a little by buying the 96 oz jugs and refilling the 32 oz bottles. The 96 oz jugs are hard to find but some Walmarts have them.
Thank goodness Choctaw Bob and I typically frequent different Walmarts or we would be chasing each other.
But I bank in Rowlet and my dealer is next to your walmart so I shop all three!
