I have a couple of questions about the window motors in my 2000 F150 lariat. My driver side window goes down with no problem but makes a boing sound about 6 times on the way down, kinda like a spring constantly releasing. The passenger side goes down fine for about 4 inches and then slows down really bad for and then speeds back up to normal. It goes up completely fine though. I have never had power windows before so these problems are new to me. Is it the tracks on the passenger side. How can I fix these problems? Thanks for the help.
The spring noise is common on the F150/Expeditions. Sometimes you can aleviate it by lubricating the regulator tracks but often the only way to get rid of it is to replace the regulator. Unless it is real aggrevating I wouldnt spend the coin on it.
The other one sounds like it is binding in the window run. Try lubricating the window run with dry silicone spray, which you can purchase at the auto parts store. Ford replaced a lot of the early window runs for binding. What I do is lubricate the run real good, then run the window up about 3 inches and then grasp the glass and work it side to side and then forward and back, and then raise it 3 inches and repeat over and over till its all the way up. This often will free it up well enough. You can also remove the door panel if binding persists and loosen the bolt at the botton of each side of the window run and adjust it outboard a little to relieve some of the binding.
