I just bought a 3 inch Maramount round muffler for my Ford. It Rumbles just a little bit more than the original. I hope i will increase my power a bit and my Fuel millage. This muffler is an all welded one, steel. You can see through but there is a little offset in the middle. The guy told there was no restriction in this one and I will never have to change it in the life of the truck.
I installed a 3 inch steel aluminized tail pipe but did not change the 2 1/2 inch foward of the muffler.
Any comment on this muffler, and do you think this will increase performance?
Well, the old one was a 2 1/2 inch. I would imagine that unblocking in the back would make a difference, I hope. But on the other end, if it do not work, I still can change the front end.
Do you know anyone that installed a Maramount Round muffler?
Personally never heard of them. The general workings as I understand them is that it is better to have a larger pipe at the start and as you go to the tail, you can go smaller due to the cooling of the exhaust gasses. I personally prefer to stay the same size after leaving the front. It's kind of like trying to put water through the thermostat, it slows down the flow due to the restriction, and then can go faster after the pipe widens out, but it has already lost it's energy due to the narrower pipe.

Three inch to where the two manifold down pipes intersect.
When I had a NA motor the three inch went to in front of the intersection, the back one dumped into the side of the three inch pipe.
Any good muffler shop that can work with 3" can do this.
