how hard would it be to go from EFI to carb on my I6? or would it be worth it, i have never worked on an EFI, but i can work on a carb, the idea about tearing into an EFI scares me. any help would be appreciated, thanks
It's not too hard, but you have to change the intake, ignition system, and come up with a way to supply fuel, either with a Holley regulator or an external electric pump. Also, depending on your transmission, you may have to change that as well. Later automatics are electronically controlled.
could i change everything to pre-computer? all 300 blocks are same right? I was wondering where all the night time folks were, thought for a moment i was the only one working
What year is your truck? If it has low pressure pump(s) in the tank(s) then you can remove the high pressure pump on the frame rail and use the low pressure pump to supply your carb. May still need a regulator though. If you have an E4OD or an AODE tranny you will need a stand alone system to run it.

Ok, you should be good to go then. You can get a used Offenhauser intake for around $50, a used Motorcraft or Autolite 2BBL out of the junkyard (make sure to write down the year and engine it came off of, and try to find one with a tag to make it easier to get a rebuild kit), but get the distributor and DSII box new. You can re-use the original coil, and run a full 12v through it, but make sure you don't leave the key on with the engine off- it melts the epoxy out of the spark box, and could even set it on fire. Trust me, that's experience talking. Overall, you should be right around the $300 mark.
