03 ranger

a friend has a 03 ranger, he's trying to figure the axle ratio. the axle code on the door says 97. I looked it up but can't figure it out.

i just bought a 03 ranger, and had the same question. so i went to my local ford garage, gave them the vin # and they looked it up on the computer and i found out what i had. mine is 4.10 and limited slip. good luck.....bob

Axle Code 97 = 4.10 non-limited slip.

I have the same question on my 03 Ranger 4X2. The door post says 86 for the axle. Any ideas on the english translation....

84 — 3.45 non-limited slip (Ranger)
