IDing an axle
hey I am having some trouble IDing an axle can someone help please the tag reads
4:10 D8TA ACD
610023 6
I know the 4:10 part but I can't figure out if this is a Dana 44 or a 60 or other? Any help is appreciated. By the way this is a 78 F250 4X4. Thanks

If you can post the axle ID off of the vin tag on the driver's door, and if the axle is original, I can tell you what the axle is. On the far right side of the vin tag is a space labeled axle. Post the numbers listed under that portion of the tag. Axle #24 would be a dana 60 4:10. Axle *B4 would be a dana 60 limited slip 4:10.

22J ?
My doortag says 22J, tag on the axle says 4.10, 22J comes up as 3.07 ratio on codes I've looked at.

You can use the VIN and data plate decoder link found in the Read First: FAQ thread at the top of this forum.

Since the 4,10 axle is only on the Dana 60 & DSana 70,I would say ......
it's Dana 60
The J stands for power steering .
It has nothing to do with the axle.
The H means Limited Slip on any given ratio.

The VIN and data decoder shown is for vehicles manufactured in the US. Is there a decoder for those built in Canada, such as mine?

I was able to find the information in my owners manual. H5 is a limited slip with 4:10 ratio, 3800 #'s capacity..
