Preformed an injector Buzz test and these codes popped up:
P 1276 (Injector 6 High to low side open)
P 1278 (Injector 8 High to Low Side open)
P 1293 (Bank #1 Right side; high side open)
Does any have any suggestion what i need to tackle? We just replaced the #6 injector....and the truck misses bad when running....seems to be 2 cyl's....matches the test.
worst case scenario R+R both injectors or IDM fault . I would look at the connections at the valve cover and underneath it. Maybe the clips came off the injectors or the harness is pinched or broken somewhere.
I just replaced the #6 injector (First thing we did about a month ago when we had time to look at it!!!)...and R&Red the Cover Gasket and harness. Still missing like a mug. I did get an IDM code every so offten...but not all the time. I got the prementioned codes about 80% of the time when testing. Might have had something to do with low batt voltage. Got em topped off now. Seems to have a stumble when cranking too........slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, fast. if that makes since.
An open circuit is no connection. I would check the continuity at the wiring harness's. Somebody else back me up on this, but isn't it true that the wiring harness's inside the valve cover fail a lot?
Did a compression test....had compression. BUT i am not sure what i needs to start. It was well over 100 PSI. We did change the valve cover gasket and harness to the right side of the motor....did not change anything. Still missing. BUT, forgot to mention this, when the buzz test is preformed, the 6&8 injectors buzz LOTS quieter. I dont know...my end up with the dealer....i tried!
100 psi would be only barely acceptable for a gas engine. I work on VW and Audi for a living and thier diesels have 22 to 1 compression and won't even start at anything below 375 psi if the engine is cold and the glow plugs are all working. A good VW diesel will be about 430 psi. The Powerstroke is a little lower compression but you still need to see a lot more than 100 psi. More like 300+ I would think. I think you need a whole new engine.
okok....here is a new finding we discovered last night....when we finaly had time to tinker with the truck. We pulled the fuel filter and found Texas Tea in it! It was full wtih motor oil. Injector seal leaking into the fuel? Is there a return line into the fuel filter houseing? Thanks!

You're not going to get anywhere with low compression!!!
