I have a 2003 F-350 6.0 PSD with a 10.5 inch donahoe lift, on 40 inch tires with 20 inch rims... need to know where to get a custom made drop ball mount thats strong enough to tow a 27 foot boat.. (about 6000 lbs). I recently bought one from a local hitch store out here in riverside, CA but its only rated for 5000. HELP and quick... I wanna go to the river.... Oh yeah if you wanna see the truck go here, https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=11116
Try here, quick! The sales' good thru midnight tonight. Check in their "all products we offer" category and scroll down. Thought I saw something about receivers for lifted trucks, etc there.
If all else fails, find a welder/fabricator (there s/b TONS in Riverside) and have one tailor-made to fit your truck/lift. Have fun at The River and Lake
"Have-a-brew"!!!....
MechEngr...I think you will be okay with a 11"12" drop. I had a similar set up as yours. I was sitting with a 12" lift and have 40's on 20's and it seemed that the 11" drop was slightly off. I would imagine with a 10.5" lift would be perfect. Right now i am sitting around 15"-16" lift and needing a 16" drop. I have altered my trailer and did axle flip. A spring over axle has raised my trailer about 4" and has leveled somewhat. I am still looking for the same 16" drop hitch reciever and have to get it custom made.
the way my trailer sits i need a 16 inch drop. I actually found a place out here in riverside that sells pre-made 16 inch drops but they are only rated for 5000 lbs. and my boat weighs at least 6000. Thats where the problem lies. I'm thinking I'm I might have to take that drop hitch to someone and tell them to beef it up somehow. Ilso i have seen some trucks that have what looks like some kind of stabilizer bars coming from the bottom of the ball mount that go up to either the frame of the truck or to somehwere on the hitch, im guessing this is to eliminate any motion front to back.
Any eckhart will custom make a drop for you. If you don't want to do that then make it yourself. Expect to pay around $200 just for the slide in. I have a 10.5" and forties and just use their standard twelve inch drop. If all else fails, I will make you one and warranty it even. If it ever fails, just call me and I will tell you how sorry I am before I hang up on you. And finnnnally. I broke the cable from a 12k winch off my 5k hitch. Figure in the safety factor and your looking at around a 15-16k load. I am not suggesting that it will all work just lovely but I'd just do it. Remember that if you go over 7500 lbs you have to go to a 2 1/8th ball Better make sure the mount on the trailer will work.Linky.............Eckhart
Oh wait, more. The issue will not be the mount anyways. The pin is rated for 5k and you can't get a bigger pin in the hole. Well.....you can but you have to "make" it fit. The pin is the real issue in my opinion.
The tires are 39.5" so basically 40's... Need the 16 inch drop because my trailer needs to sit 20 inches from the floor to the ball socket, and 16 inches of drop puts it right there.
By the way the contact info for the place in riverside is: "Riverside Hitch and Trailer", 909-785-9353. 7304 Indiana Ave. #4
Fdiddy... I paid 220 for the 16 inch drop, rated at 5000 lbs with a tounge weight of 500 lbs. By the way, that price is for a chrome ball mount, black is less, figure around 180.
