My daughter's 92 Explorer 4.0L engine is overheating to the point of boiling over! It happens after the engine has been running about 30 minutes. The temp gauge goes over to the L in Normal and when the motor is killed, it boils water and coolant out of the overflow plastic container. I have had the radiator cleaned, boiled out, and all leaks repaired. Thermostat has been replaced twice. New fan and clutch (Ford parts)and new water pump. No water in oil or out the exhaust. I am a mechanic and have talked with several other mechanics. I am to the point of calling it a blown head gasket. Any Help before I tear into the motor would be appreciated!
The plugs were fine. I tore into the motor and sent the heads to a shop that specializes in heads. The heads were warped! I got it all back together late yesterday evening. My daughter drove it last night and it never got past the "R" in normal. The Explorer has 160,000 miles on it an the inside of the motor looked new! When I replaced the plugs, I found out they were the original factory plugs! I hope this keeps her on the road for awhile.
