2004 Explorer 2WD v-8. Looking for TB on Air conditioning "hooting noise". TB bulletin number is 17217. Called local dealer today and he said no dice to providing me a copy. Also said the noise could be from front axle seal???? Does not sound correct to me.

Thanks, that more information than the local dealer could give. He says it's the windshield but I say no, seems to match the symptoms mentioned in the bulletin info you provided.
I hate to dig up an old topic, but does anyone know if Ford has found a fix for this issue yet? I've dealt with this problem for almost 2 years now and am quite sick of it!

Not sure where they have or not...my explorer was in the shop this week for the 7th time trying to get rid of the "hoot" or "chirp", and have had no luck as of yet, if someone knows the answer of this question....PLEASE let me know....Thanks
I agree that the dealers deny any problem, I went in to the dealer with my 2004 Exolorer and told them the problems and they said all my problems were normal.
I then asked why they would create a TSB for a normal problem, Well they asked where I got the TSB's and I replied does it really matter.
Well anyway the A/C Hoot is described in a TSB and the fix is to install a revised evaporator case.
That fix does not apply to vehicles with Auxilary rear A/C.
I have a 2003 EB at the dealer right now, and I am told they could find no problems with the AC, hmmm. sounds like it is just anoying and does not realy effect anything else. I live in Minnesota - only see a couple of months of above 85 weather.
Thats pretty much what they told me, does not really effect anything else, but it is definately annoying, but mine does the same "chirp" when the heat is on too.
kwikbill, I took mine to the dealer last summer and told them of the TSB 17217. I don't remember what they did, but somehow the noise is gone and so is the problem. Tell your dealer the TSB number and see if they know how to fix it.
