Dana 60 id?
Is there any way of telling what splines your axles are without pulling them(housing markings)?
And how do you tell a high pinion dana 60 for a normal one if you don't have them side by side?
Also which part of the diff id tag tells you what year it is?
my tag reads first line 4.10 D6TA KEA, second line 603716 9
So i know it's a 4.1 rato open centre, but is it the D6 (1976) that represents the year?
Thanks for any help,
Aaron

The 603716 number can tell you what year, make and model vehicle the axle came from. Go to www2.dana.com/expert and look up the number under the 'light truck axles' section.
No way that I know of to tell the spline count except by pulling the shafts, unless you know from some other information source how many splines should be on the axleshafts of the vehicle the axle came from. For example, the front Dana 60 in my F350 has 35 splines. Any F350 4x4 front axle of my year range should have the same number of splines. Looking up that 603716 number would be a start in the right direction, then maybe go to an axle gear supplier's website, like Randy's Ring and Pinion www.ring-pinion.com and look up a differential for that truck's axle and see how many splines they say it should have. The 603716 number should also be stamped on the axletube next to the diff housing toward the top of the tube.
I forget what the D6TA means.
