I have an 02 F-250 super duty which at 98,000 miles started having electrical trouble. The turn signals stopped working and the ac blower quits working. When I replace the blower motor fuse which is blown, the blower will work again but the turn signals do not. I have had it to a dealer and they mess with the wire harness and tape things up and it works for a week or two then starts again. We cannot induce the problem no matter what we do to the harness when it is running and then when it works it will go out for no reason. What are my options. The dealer wants to replace the entire harness in the truck which will be a few thousand dollars.
Ouch!!! I can think of a lot of things to do with a few thousand dollars, buying a harness would not be one of them.
Nonetheless, when it goes out for no reason, does it blow the blower fuse? I have not checked the schematics, but the two don't seem likely to be related.
I have a 2002 F-350 that is having the same problem, It looks like its a short in the steering colum somewhere but unable to find it.
Did you figure it out, if so please let me know, when the fuse blows #45
Ignition run/start feed 10a, it kills the gas pedal and the intrument cluster.
but still runs.
Well the original poster only posted those two times almost 3 years ago, I highly doubt you'll get an answer, but I've been wrong before. I agree with the short in the column, I'd be looking right around where the wheel tilts as that would be about the only movement.
Took the colum cover off and that o/d wire coming out of the gear shift(auto)
had been rubbing after years of Park to Drive and sure enough 1 wire out of three had no insulation on it at the 90 degree bend. :hy:
That wire was a direct short and causing the fuse to blow, and that explains why it was so intermittent. The wire had to be in the right place to short, thank god it was in the right place to get me home from the coast last weekend!
