Editing posts

Just a friendly reminder that if you need to edit something in your post, such as a spelling mistake, or if you want to add to it, or remove something you decided maybe you didn't want to say, you have an hour after you submit a post to edit it. Just hit the "edit" button at the bottom of your post.
This helps to save bandwidth ($$) on here.

Editing,etc.

I keep seeing this post, Sticky, and am wondering what the problem is. What is it that people are or aren't doing that they should? Can you be more specific?

What happens is that someone makes a post and then a minute later they decide to add something to it and, rather than just use the edit feature to do that, they make a new post.

It does cost a lot to keep this site up and running.
Good ways to help are to support our sponsors and to join Club FTE.
The link to that is on the right side of the page.

Racerguy,

Recently I accidently double posted a reply to a thread and could not figure out how to delete the second posting. The edit button says you can "edit or delete", but I could find no button on the edit page that would allow me to delete that post. How do I delete a post?

I'm not sure why it says "edit or delete" because users can't delete posts....as far as I know.
I've seen users double post and then edit the second one to let us know it was an oops so we can remove it. That works.
Maybe do me a favor and try to report your own post by clicking the red triangle button in the top right corner so I can see if that works for users to report their own posts.
Thanks

I can't report my own posts..the red triangle does not appear in my own posts. Apparently the system has determined that we would not want to report our own posts. Can you think of anything else?

Of course, the easiest thing is to avoid making duplicate posts, but accidents do happen, even to the best of us, and it would be nice if we could help you out by being able to delete a duplicate rather than taking up space with redundant information.

Ok that's what I thought but I wasn't sure.
So much for that idea.
I guess the next best thing would be to just send a personal message or email to a moderator or admin and let them know about the oops.
It's not a big deal. Usually one of us will catch the double post...eventually

Will do the next time I make an oops, but will try to avoid.

Thanks.
