96 Aerostar Evap System
I have a 96 Aerostar and it has an OBDII error evap ...
I just got the van and cannot even find the canister or the two valves/solenoids...
Do I need to drop the tank, are they hidden inside the fender well...
How do I test , check or replace them..
Are there any common problems I should check on first..?
Please, please help if you can...
Are there any tricks to getting the airbox out for access to the canister & controls
Now, can anyone run me through the fastest way to check things out...
I do have an Ohm meter, and a hand vacuum pump...
I would assume I would check for continuity through the solenoild and valve and if I have an open circut they would be bad but what else, stuck solenoid, can I free it up, or just replace it...
Does the OBDII just check for continuity to tell if a device is working?
First.. thanks for the help...
I got the airbox out and pulled the solenoid and the sensor...
I did find one questionable hose which will be replaced.
(Between the canister and the solenoid)
I applied vacuum to the solenoid and it held but leaked down slowly...
I shot some cleaner into it and it was quite dirty inside leading me to believe it was sucking dirty air.
When I applied power it did not seem to respond at first but I also may have not been making a good connection trying to hold two wires on the two terminals while holding the solenoid... But soon it started clicking and working fine and not holds vacuum and releases when power is applied.
My question is the other device...
It has one port in and one port out...
It has three wires...
I assume this is a pressure/vacuum switch...
With the vacuum port at the top and the three connectors pointing towards me I have continuity between the top right connector (b) and the bottom connector (c).
I assume I should be able to apply vacuum and get a change but can anyone tell me what I am looking to find...?
O Vacuum Port
a o o b
o c
Again... any help at all would be appreciated ...
Any diagram, text, picture... ANYTHING that will help me fix this...
I will go to the dealer today to see if they have the molded hose from the canister to the solenoid and if I can afford it, I will pick up the sensor/switch..
Take care people and a sincere thanks to anyone that even bothered to read this...
