my father's only complaint about his dually is poor traction in snow and mud. Works awesome with the truck camper though.

I have gotten so used to the DRW after years of owning them I can park them anywhere with no probs. But, that's after years of getting used to it.

I think if you're not accustomed to the DRW it may give you the blues at first, maybe even make you wish you hadn't got it, but that'll go away after awhile.

But, like RedTaurus94 said, it rides about the same as the SRW....maybe a little more rough, but not enough to make the decision for or against.

I'll vote on the DO WHAT YOU WANT ticket. Either way you'll be happy.

Just dont plan on going offroading with it because the fenders probably wont survive. A little tip if you've never had a dually, set the mirrors the same or a little wider than the fenders so in tight spots if the mirrors clear the fenders will clear. I have a 93 F-350 cc 7.3 that I bought new. I also have an 04 F-250 SC 4x4 6.0 that I just bought , love both trucks but the dually is never leaving here.

I've had my F350 Lariat CC DWR for 7 weeks and don't regret buying in the least. It didn't take me long to get used to the extra width. If you are definitely going with the long box, the truck won't fit into most parking spots anyway. Like Sportscraft said, you're spending over $40K for a truck. Make sure that you are getting what you want.

I agree with the "DO WHAT YOU WANT" theory. You are going to buy it and drive it. You might as well get something that you really want. I dont think either choice is bad. There isnt one is better than the other, because they are both great trucks. Bottomline is, the choice is up to you.

Thanks for all the great responses. However, After much consideration I'm going to purchase a SRW (FORD) truck. I believe it will fit my life style much better, which will ultimately make me enjoy the truck more. Thanks again.

Good choice. Although neither would be wrong. I have owned several SRW and DRW. I tend to change my mind every few years between dual and single and auto or manual. The Dually's corner like a vett but cost a fortune to lift and I like quality tires. So now I am back to a SRW and when down to a 250.

If you stick with a PSD you wont go wrong. You will love the 6.0L in any truck!

Go with your heart. Just remember this if your in an area where you get a lot of snow. Dually suck in snow.

Well, I'm hooked on the DRW F350. Besides the fact that I need the extra towing capacity, It's by far the best lookng dually out there. My '99 V10 cc 4x2 handles just fine, and isnt that big of a deal to park. You just have to get used to it a little. With the 4.30 gears, I can pull just about anything I want. If you want the dually, GO FOR IT!! You wont regret it!

Good luck with your truck I got my dually, cause I was in the used buying market, and I was able to get it cheaper than a SRW Both are nice trucks

Awe man emag ! Go for the Dually ! Their not that bad. I'm on my second one and once you have one, you'll never go back. True, I cannot fit through most drive through's. And I park far away and not in "compact" spaces. But they are way cool and I get a lot of compliments on how the truck looks. My wife can drive it with no problem, when we go to the store, she parks away from the other cars. Plus it saves on the dents and scratches. Now for the good news. You get 11,000 -11,500 GVWR (depending on which state you live in) and the best part is you get a different rearend, that shares with the F-450. The rearend on the F-250 and F-350 SRW are the same. Yes, more heavy duty in Super Duty. No, I don't think their barges, once you get used to it your King of the road (at least you feel like one.....) Like an earler post, Don't buy the SRW, then later wish you had gotten the DRW. And their not that much more expensive, do some checking. Good luck !

I guess I am an atheist when it comes to SRW or DRW religions.

Having owned several of both. I do know that a dually can float when in 2WD especially uphill on gravel and can be skittish on wet or slick pavement. With a standard tranny downshifting on ice tends to break free a little faster than a SRW.

In deep snow or Mud the front tires don't track with the either of the rear tires. They are slightly offset and you tend to plow more with the rear tires than if one had a clean path for at least one tire. A SRW only cuts with the front tires and the rears have a cleared path in snow and mud.

Now that being said... This is minor and with a good set of tires and in 4WD 4 wheels and 6 wheels side by side and you wont see one get stuck before the other. (This should stir up some religious arguments)

I have never been disappointed with my dually's. The only reason I have a single now is the cost of lifting a dually and tire cost as well as limited selection to keep the rear spacing without new rims or spacers. I do prefer the handling of a dually and parking is not hard if you have a real set of b@!!s. You also get more respect from the rice burners when they see your grill and stance in there rearview mirrors.
