My mom's friend was pulled over here in Arkansas while being passed by another car. She complained to the cop that the other car was going faster. He just smiled and gave her a ticket. She went to court to fight it. After telling her story to the judge, he asked he if she was indeed speeding. She replied that she was, but that other cars were going faster than she was. The judge just smiled and asked if she had ever gone fishing. Confused, she told him she had. He laughed and asked her if she caught every fish in the lake, or just the one on her line.
David is right. i had forgotten about this until his post. Back in '88, 3 friends and i spent a week in Oahua. One of the guys was the son of a very wealthy man who ran a large sausage company back in the states. We were sent along to our trip with about 30lbs of vacumme packed sausage to be delivered to a close friend of the "dad" in Oahua. It turned out that the close friend was also a council member and as such, had a special plate on his CADDY. Well, he insisted we spend the day with him and he would show us the real Oahua. That was the scariest day of my life! this man knew no traffic laws! He ran every stop light, stop sign, parked anywhere, and sped like a bat out of hell. he even passed a cop on a road while speeding and the cop looked away. we were pretty impressed back then because we were just in our early twenties, but the driving was still scary. BTW, that was the best tour of Oahua we'd ever had. talk about VIP service everywhere we went. I'm not one to name drop, but if there are any readers in Oahua, this guy was apparently the owner of a company called Huli Huli Chicken. i can't remember his name, just Huli-Huli.
info Ky state cars, dark blue, white, black all have dark tinted windows and serval whip ant. very plain crown vic's and a cb is the prefered weapon of choice to combat them ch.19 and they call them plainwhite/blue wrappers or full grown's
Yea, I almost got caught when the KY troopers started running radar from construction vehicles.
Kinda makes you feel for that deer when your sitting in a blind waiting for him to come along.
I was driving home from school one time on 75 in ATL when I came upon a curve. There was a car broken down on the approach side of the curve and there was a guy leaning on it, acting like he was waiting for help. Had his arms crossed, and tucked into the crook of his arm was a radar gun. Of course you didn't see it until you were close enough to see his uniform, along with his cruiser parked in front of the broken down car where you couldn't see it, and his hat sitting on top of the cruiser. Tricky guy.
Between Salisbury and Princess Anne MD, in the median between the Rte 13 N & S lanes there are trees that the State Police sit in between with a cammo blanket over their car, using laser.
On Rte 50 towards OC MD, they do the bucket truck thing. Except these cops aren't that bright......they walk out into the 55 mph hiway to pull the speeders over. One day one will get run over, because you cannot see them until you are on top of them.
Most of Texas, but for sure below and west of San Antonio.........Troopers run in pairs, rarely more than 5 miles apart. So when you see one, and he lets you go. If you arent slowed down, they second will get ya. Mostly they're looking for drugs and illegals.
I-295 in Virginia (Richmond by-pass). Troopers sit at the end of and behind the "sound barrier" walls- totally hidden from view. No way to see them until it's way too late. I drive that route on a fairly regular basis, and I'd never seen them do that before. Good thing I was doing the speed limit for a change! LOL.
CA has probably the "fairest" laws regarding speed enforcement, but the most expensive fines, when you add all of the "costs". Anything, no matter how minor adds up to $300+. If anything, locals are cut no slack compared to out-of-state plates. Tourism is an important industry.
Unmarked traffic enforcement vehicles are not allowed. Speed limits cannot be enforced by radar/laser unless validated by an engineering study within the past five years using the "85 percent rule". There are strict limits on using radar by the Highway Patrol. For decades the state would not fund any radar equipment for the CHP. New Cessna aircraft have been purchased for patrolling I-15 in the desert, between the Cajon pass and the Nevada state line, on the way to 'Vegas. Dont "stand out" in traffic and you are ok here.
I have a the utmost respect for cops (most of them at least), but believe many of their tactics are completely chickens#$t. These guys need to spend more time catching violent criminals or enforcing traffic laws in school zones/neighborhoods rather than along open roadways.

i drove into texas back in the summer of '88 with my brother. we drove down to pickup a '64 1/2 mustang convertible he bought that was rotting away at someone's house. we got pulled over 5 times while in texas. we were searched 2 of those times. We were just a cargo van with calif. plates towing a mustang. we had a cooler full of coke and diet coke, a lawn chair for sleeping, and girly magazines for reading the articles
the only thing they questioned was a vial of little white caffine pills we were popping to stay awake. the cop didn't believe my brother until we showed him the Ad in the back of a Huslter magazine that sold the same pills, markings and all. we never got a ticket, but 5 stops and 2 searces added up to about 2 extra hours on the road.
Going thru Las Vegs, about a year ago, I was running a bit fast to get things done prior to a funeral. I was on I-15, north, and as I came around a small curve to the left, here sat a NHP in a small safety pullout on the divider between the oposite sides on the road. I was at 90 in a 55. He turned on his lights but there was enough traffic behind me that he could not get out right away. I found an exit as he went flying past in the wrong lane to exit so I stayed out of that area for the week. Saw several in the same type location during the time there so now I have that trick memorized.
