Engine Serial Number???

Engine Serial Number???
I am looking at a used 302 to put in my 93 F-150. The only info the guy has on it it is a Serial number on the block of E2175608. This does not sound like a valid ford part number??? Can anyone decipher what year engine this is?? It came out of an older truck, but was not the original. The guy says late 80's early 90's? Alsoi what is so special about the 92-93 302 in the f-150's??? It seems like everyone tells me I have to get one of those two years to make it work??? What other donor vehicles can i use for a good 302 for my 93 f-150?
