Bleed valve on air compressor?

Bleed valve on air compressor?
I have a Campbell Hausfeld 7HP/60 Gal. compressor. On the pressure activated power switch, there is a small needle valve that is activated when the pressure is reached and the power is shut off. When power is on, the needle valve is closed. Can't imagine what the purpose of this is? Any ideas? Just looking to satisfy my curiosity.

I assume my check valve is toast. As the bleed valve will eventually bleed down the entire tank. All I can find for check valves here are some for $20 CDN, and they dont look like exact replacements. Where abouts did you get yours?

try www.chpower.com (or www.campbelhausfeld.com) manual is avail plus service center near you. I think they had a min. charge so I bought 2 check valves.
