Lets not be so hasty! From which motor did our beloved 4.2 evolve from?Thats right, the 3.8! And,where can you find this 3.8? Correct again, the Mustang! Do a search on 3.8 Mustang hi-po parts,or Mustang websites and i'm sure you will find that hi-po coil lurking about there! Oh,lets not forget the T-Birds and the Cougars with the 3.8!
WVF150, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. The main reason I am interested in this , is because I too have had a problem. Sometimes , when I start my truck, it runs fine. Other times it seems sluggish, and doesn't run well until it gets higher rpm.
I can tell immediately when I start it, how it will run that particular time. I can stop, cut it off, then re-start it, and sometimes it will purr like a kitten. My coil also checks at the upper limit according to the Haynes manual. I have 125k on my '02 , so instead of a factory job, I am looking for some hi-po replacements.
No problem travlnman. I've been keeping up with thread just to see if you find something hi-po or if one of these Ford techs on here might know the Ford spec numbers to check against. I looked yesterday for a short time and came up with notta.....Mine is doing the exact same thing. What was the resistance on yours? As you may have read in my original post, mine and the new one I checked were both bad according to the Haynes spec numbers. I would think a bad coil would be more obvious than what I'm/we're experiencing.
