I was coming to a stop at a red light the other day, and just when I got stopped the engine kinda shuddered once and died. I put it in neutral and it started right up, and I haven't had it happen again. Anyone else ever had this happen?
I've had that happen on a 5.0 Mustang as well as a BMW 733i. Both times it turned out to be crud built up on the butterflies of the throttle body. When they were snapping shut, it was choking the engine off, but only when I went to stop. They, also, would start right up.
I would doubt it's anything dirty since it only has about 7200 miles. I always run good quality gas and not the cheap, off-brand, corner-store kinda stuff. I haven't been anywhere abnormally dusty, and I don't have a K&N-type filter. I guess it could be the IAC acting up. I'll just wait and see if it happens again.
Howdy from S.D. Mr. Wizard. I had the same thing when I pulled up to order at a drive up. It has never done it again and no codes. Ford garage has no ideas either. If you find something out please let us know! (maybe there is not enough o2 in the air or something)
Take care

My 2003 V10 has stalled 3 times in 25000 miles. The first was at around 300, I stopped at a stop sign. Second was around 2000, I was backing out of a parking space. Third time was at 24000, starting up after sitting for 7 days. The third time, it idled very rough for a second then quit. The first two, it just died, no rough idle or other indications.
All three times it started right back up, All three times I took it in under warranty, and all three times the dealer didn't do anything. If anybody has a suggestion as to how to get Ford to fix a truck that won't throw a code when it stalls, please let me know.
I too am having an intermittent idle problem. At about 35,000, after a service was performed, it would start and die immediately but would keep running if I held my foot on the gas. After a few minutes it would run fine. It did this for about 2 or 3 days but wouldn't throw a code so Ford wouldn't do anything about it. Now, at 54,000 it's doing the same thing again but still no code.
The fuel filter was replaced at 30K, it has a new and clean K&N filter in it. I'm leaning towards IAC motor as well but without access to a known good to do a swap I can't confirm it.......anyone have any suggestions??

Don't lean towards it. Embrace it. Love it. Learn to accept it. These are classic IAC symptoms.
It's not a motor. It's not that expensive. But, if you don't want to get a new one, you may be able to clean up the old one. It's only two bolts, and you probably will be able to reuse the gasket.
There is a long thread on this a few months back. Mine has done this a few times, but with no shudder. Just shuts off when coming to a stop. Starts right back up and won't happen again for a long time. Dealer service told me it was not the IAC.
