well i have a 99 ranger 4x4 vacum hubs with 4wheel ABS. i have the front end apart but i cant find the hub nut! i have the vacum assembly off the end of the axl, rotor off etc. so when i look at it i see the hub (the part with the lubs for the wheel etc) and inside of that i see the axle. nothing on the end etc. if you look down along side the axle and into the hub you see a orange plastic lock washer thing. thats it, i cant see anything else. it seems to me the whole wheel bearing hub assembly would slide right off over the axle. i have all 3 bolts out from behind etc. but i cant find the nut. any help would be appreciated. thanks!
for future refernce, simply remove the plastic lock washer, and the 3 bolts on the knuckle and then pry the hub assebly off a bit and it will pop right off. now i just have to wait for the new one and try to put it in. i assume from the lack of reeponses to this post that most people havent done this to one of these trucks. but in case someone feels the urge, does anyone have any recommendations as far as greasing ot not greasing the axle, new hub etc. and any advice on how to make sure the vacum is still working and air tight when i am finished?
I wish I could help you out. I know if you use too much grease on the hub it will mess it up. I have manual hubs now, but before i had the auto's and they quit working
