hey guys,
i just got my 78 ford f150 running, finally.... and all the brakes work now, i got the carb issues sorted out, i think. but now the power steering sucks...its so incerdibly hard to turn.... and the fluid is foamy when I get back from taking it around the block. any ideas.... its on a 351 M by the way, if that helps any.
thanks
nick.
either the pump is low on fluid and is cavitating or the intake hose has a leak and is sucking air into it. if you keep filling it with fluid and running it the bubbles will work out of it as long as there is not a leek in the inlet hose
did you take it off to work on your engine, if the fluid is low it will foam but if you add more fluid it will stop it from foaming. it will take a few days to get all the bubbles out. check your fluid leval after your truck has sat overnight.
When I had my truck apart, it did this when I put it back together. After it has set, jack up the entire front end, fill it up, and then start the engine and turn the steering lock to lock. You could probably get it out eventually, but jacking it up removes any strain on the system and makes it easier to bleed out. Ted
