Wow this is a Kick A** forum! Rangers are great, and so are Ranger owners! The emergency brake cable recently broke on mine. I know I can find the part easy enough, but I have a short weekend so I was wondering if anyone had replaced their cable and had any advice or warnings about this repair. I don't want to spend my only day off running in circles I just joined the forums and I look forward to lending a hand when I can. Also before I joined I was looking through all the threads to see if the info I needed was already present, wow, I went through the first 60 pages before I realized Sunday would be here before I finished. I will continue to look through them and change this post if I find what I need. Is there no way to keyword search the threads? Any help is welcome, Thanks!
Which part of the cable system broke? There are 4 different cables altogether: one in front that comes off the pedal, an intermediate cable, and two rear cables (one for each side).
I replaced the cable on my 94 about three years ago. As I recall, I was done in less than an hour. No surprises or anything like that; removing the cable from the parking brake assy took a little patience but still pretty simple. Don't waste any time with one from a junkyard; the new OEM one is priced quite reasonably.

Great advice thanks guys, I stayed out a little to late last night and its hot here in Kansas so I'm going to do it next saturday. I'm pretty sure the cable broke right at the pedal so the one in front is broken. Thanks for info on the search I just overlooked it that will be real handy. This is kinda off topic but my truck is red with tan interior and I disslike the tan, do you guys have any websites you frequent for interior modifacations, carpet, seats, dash or gauge kits ect. Thanks again for the replys.
