I have a 408 with a Comp Cams 268 High Engergy bumpstick, 650 Holley Double Pump, duals, Edelbrock Performer Intake, Crane Valve Springs, Double Roller timing set and a high volume oil pump. This combo works great!! Tons of torque right off idle and it will pull to 5000 RPM. I love it also I get over 10 mpg on the highway Once I broke the tire loose and it burnt all the way through 2nd gear in my T-18

I definately would. I prefer Holleys but some guys like Edelbrocks. I think Holleys have better throttle response and I never have hot starting issues with Holleys. I had a 500 CFM Holley 2 barrel before the 650 and the 650 is much stronger.

comp cams 265deh is about it for these engines if not the 255deh about stock or 275deh but that may be too much
holleys give slighty better performace but having to retune and mess with it to keep it running RIGHT is not acceptible while a performer will get you comprible performance and more reliably
can alway get a barry grant but have not any expence with them so your on your own

once more remember its a "clevland" so dual ppattern cam heavy on the exaust(dual enregy 265deh) will perform well
