With a correct AC charge the compressor cycles on and off with the control switch in OFF. The same as it would with the switch ON. I think there is a sticking relay somewhere. I completely rebuilt the AC system excluding the evaporator many miles ago. This is really a problem in cold weather when I don't want the AC running. The compressor generally remains unpluged.
Also the vents will occassionally blow hot air as if the system is shutting off. A few minutes later cold air comes back out.
Where is the relay located that powers the system?

I dont have a wiring diagram for yours, so cant tell you much, but it sounds like you might be crossed with 12 volts somewhere. What happens when you remove the fuse to the dash switch?
