I was coming back from Richfield, Utah last weekend and when I was going over the I-70 to the I-15 I started to notice these big black blobs everywhere. I pulled over and got out and saw the biggest and scariest crickets in my life! One of them were over 2 1/2 inches long! I tried to put one in a bucket to take it home but then I thought that the last thing I needed were those things in Vegas. So I continued to go and heard crunching under the tires for 10 min. straight. Has anyone else seen these or have to deal with them? If so, I feel bad for you.
Mormon Crickets!? We have Redneck locusts around here. Every year in certain parts of the Mississippi Delta they sworm for a few days and the roads are littered with locusts carcuss!
We have mormon crickets here in Idaho. They are a pain in the ***. In high traffic areas their squished remains will make the roads slick enough to cause hazardous driving conditions. They aren't fun at all.
Ahh, yes, the mormon crickets. Technically, they are grasshopper, though it matters little. They do make a mess on the roads. I can vouch for them, they are the best catfish bait going. In fact, I plan to test them tonight. I catch about 1,000 when they are abundant, and freeze them. They're good for something.
Yeah we even have them in lousiana. the ground moves when they come out. They are everywhere. they have been known to casue wrecks, because all teh squished ones on the road make is so slick that tires cant grip the road.
