Wow, that's crazy. I found my house without actually typing it in. Kind of scary actually.

Terraserver is awesome...Another website I'm with, the New England Lost Ski Areas Project, uses terraserver to find most if not all the out of business ski areas we find... like this for example:

This is Snow Valley Ski Area (soon to reopen) in Winhall, VT. Somewhere hidden in the 20 yr. old pile of brush is a Double Chair, a Poma lift (the "button lift") a Rope Tow, and the remnants of a T-bar. This image is not very good, but zoomed in, you can find the towers of all those lifts...

I have friends who use 3-d topo software to make those images 3-D and in color! It's amazing

All the info on the locations I looked at are 10 years old, but still kinda freaky...

If I'd have known they were taking my picture that day I would have mowed my lawn! I wish you could zoom in closer, I can't make out much detail.

Greetings,

this is a really cool feature and stuff on the net...but during my exploration of the site i began to think to myself how easy this could be used by people with bad intentions...just a thought but still cool though.

if you click on the refineries near my home, it shows blank farmland, I'd say its plenty secure. Also the Missile silos on our ranch aren't there, but they have been since the cold war.

Hmm, I can see all of our refineries, and I can even see mine warfare ships docked at Naval Station Ingleside, TX.

Port & Refinery Row, Corpus Christi, TX

Homeport, Ingleside, TX

NAS Corpus Christi

I have used TerraServer to hunt out old rancing roads and trails for offroading. Very interesting to say the least!

unfortunately most of these satelites are owned and operated by major corperations who sell their info to the highest bidders. according to a couple people i know in army intell what you see is because they either don't care or wan't you to see it for what reasons your guess is as good as mine. i have seen a couple of pictures that were unblievable though.

I'm remember I was messing around on terraserver one time and typed in Whiteman AFB, which is where our B-2 Stealth Bombers are stationed. To my surprise, one of them was parked out in the open and clearly visible.

Kinda sad When I move back to Texas I am going ot try and by the house back. Perhaps I am holding on to my childhood to much? Seeing as how I will also be tryin to get a job at the same plant my dad started at?
