I've got a 97 Explorer XLT 2wd w/ a keyless entry code on driver's door. I bought the vehicle used and it did not come with the card w/ the code on it. The dealer wants $65 to access the code and to program my remotes. Can I find this number somewhere other than paying the dealer to look on his computer?
It will be on the remote keyless entry module. Usually near the firewall left of the brake or clutch peddle inside cab high up and hard to reach. Anyway, find the module and you will find the code.
In the back, open the drivers side compartment. There, where jack is stored, a bit hidden, you will find a black/white module with a cable harness attached to it. The code is printed on a sticker on the top (the visible) part of that module. Ussually you will need a lamp to make the number more readable.
Mine was like the last poster said, but UNDER the module. The dealer had to use a mirror to get it. (I didn't ask him to do it, so I didn't have to pay - but would have been $70). It's now on the door jamb, but under a piece of aluminum tape, so not visible without tampering.
Hi I`m a new Owner of a 95 EXPLORER LIMITED with 50,000 miles on it , Living in Montreal QUEBEC, I just love this truck, use to have a Blazer but wasn`t too satisfied with it. My questions is can lock the door with the keyless entry code too on the door itself ? I know we can unlock it and can we do something else too with it, I heard that you can open windows and the top too ! is this true ? I still don`t have the manual, it`s ordered but havent received it yet.
You can lock all of your doors with the keypad by pressing 7/8 & 9/0 at the same time. I thinks some Ford's will unroll the windows and sunroof through the keypad, but the Explorer isn't one of them. I think my Grandparent's Towncar will do this though. You can go to www.myford.fordvehicles.com and register your VIN with Ford to get full access to all of the Owner's Guides and booklets that came with your Explorer. It only goes back so far though. I think somewhere around '95 or '96 is as far as it goes. If your year isn't covered just add a new vehicle to your profile for the earliest year they go back to without specifying a VIN. I did that to download manuals for all Explorers from '97-'01 as well as a couple of Rangers.
I have still not had any luck trying to find my Code. I have a 2001 Explorer Sport. Its not where the jack is and Ive looked under the steering column area. Anyone have any ideas? HELP?
>I found that 3333 will open any ford excursion or explorer.
>Bummer!
I had to check this out on my Father's X and my X. It doesn't work on either. I'll have to try it at the local Ford dealer sometime too. Obviously there a finite number of combination for the keypad. Hey, if someone wants to get in, all they have to do is break a window. Where there's a will, there's a way.
The code should be on a module in the same compartment as the jack, but forward of it. It may be on the under side, forcing you to use a mirror, or on top.
I was the same way when I bought my truck. If you just want the number code for the door, take off the panel on the left side of the cargo area that covers the washer bottle. Inside and towards the front of the vehicle you will see the keyless entry module. The number is actualy on that module. I'm not sure if all trucks are the same but mine was a 5 digit number. If you actually need the remotes to be programmed it's time to fork over the cash. Good Luck!
