410 = 4.203" x 3.703"
the 410 is actually 4.05" x 3.984" (same bore as 360/390 but the stroke of the 428)

Those numbers didn't look right to me, I guess I shouldn't have posted them-sorry if I confused anyone. You can't trust everything you find on the net...

C.I. Bore Stroke

390 = 4.052" x 3.784"
406 = 4.134" x 3.784"
410 = 4.203" x 3.703"
427 = 4.232" x 3.784"
428 = 4.132" x 3.984"

I pulled this off the net @
http://www.ridgecrest.ca.us/~biesiade/Specs.htm#Fordeng
It's a well known fact that the Christ book is full of mistakes, as are Ford Performance, and The Ford High Performance Engine Parts Interchange. Don't bet money on what's printed there. You have to keep in mind that those books are useful but DO have mistakes.

The only clover leaf walled 427's that I've heard of were the later ones.

I'm not sure if I can post it here, but I know where to get pistons for a 406. Ratsmoker, is it ok to list a distributor that isn't a sponser?

Kanter auto products has 406 pistons listed. Their address is 76 monroe street Boonton, NJ. 07005. The phone number is 800 526 1096. It doesn't say what kind they are. I assume a stock replacement type piston. Hope this helps.

That is the bore and stroke of the MEL 410 which is the little brother to the 430 and 462. Completely different engine family.

Yeah, if the 406 cylinder walls are in good order and it doesn't need to be bored oversize.

73XAFalcon:

Yeah I know, I screwed up. But there is a 410 FE engine, just not with those numbers, as we all know. I'll have a rum-and-dumb to kill those bad brain cells that made me post that stuff.
