Just chnaged the chain in my tranfer case now upon re-installation the truck will go into 4low but no stay in 2 or 4 hi, is there some adjustment needed? On the transfer case itself there is a diagram of 2hi 4hi 4lo , in the middle of this diagramis a hole in the transfer case, what is this for?
probably an adjustment slot of some sort. Did you take out the shift rails. If so, there is usually a little spring loaded steel ball that goes into a detent in the rail to hold it in gear. If not, then i would say that you didn't get something back in the right spot, or the shifter is out of adjustment.
When I replaced the chain I didn't take out anything, do you know how to adjust the transfer case with that hole in the case? The only thing I question about the re-intsall is the position of the gears , I'm not sure if it was in neutral or what position it should be in.
the chain I'm refering to is in the transfer case itself. If the transfer case is jumping out of gear and making a grinding noise you may need to replace the chain. No adjustment is needed or I haven't found it yet.
