Anyone ever tried to make a custom overhead console or better yet adapt one from another vehicle. I have seen numerous ones in minivans that run from the front to back.
I have heard of other consoles being adapt from similiar vehicles. Taking an explorer console and putting it into a ranger for instance. I have neer done but have seen sites on the web that explain it.
My 56 will have lots of custom things done to it. I planning on using balsa wood to make mockups them use them to form fiberglass for the finished panel. Its easy to work with and fairly inexpensive if you screw up. I figure I'll have a few before I'm done.
I have in my B2 an overhead console from Ford Mercur GL with motorised sunroof (Ford Scorpio GL in Europe). It has digital clock, stop timer, outboard temperature and date. It always has very large free space and top light. I remove top light and place a fuel computer, trip computer and fuel pressure gauge in hole, where was a top light and two switches - one for foglights, and one for engine electric fan always_stop-auto_on-always_run swithing. I paint it in red (i have red interrior) and it looks REAL COOL and add some functionality and now i have additional space for placing about 3 switches or one small gauge.
