I am new to this forum. It looks like it's a cool one. Anyways, I have a problem with my 2003 Super Duty 6.0 and I am wondering if someone could help me solve this problem.
My truck is stuck in LAW 4 and I could not get back to HI 2. Did anyone experience a dilema such as mine? if so, how did you solve it? is there a trick to it? maybe?
I know once mine is in 4 low it is hard to get it back up to 2hi. Its not the electric kind is it? I just have to push and jiggle real hard.Wait you have a manual selector right? If it is the electric kind its probably just the switch, at least that is where i would start.
Is it a manual lever, on the floor,,,,, or the electric **** on the dash ?? My 04' has the manual lever,,, works great,,,,just barely rolling in neutral, slides in and out with ease !
ALSO, try to get it in 4hi first, it seems to always come right out of hi into 2wd for me, but 4lo to 2wd, PITA!!!
i have spent 5 minutes before, rollin back and forth..... i now use it at least 2-3 times a month, go into low, back into high etc.... seemed to help, honestly!
Assuming auto/electric shift, the trick is to shift to neutral and then switch to 4H before going to 2H. No other gear will work. It's in the owner's manual.
Also make sure you are pressing down on the stick. I think there is a lock under there to keep it from slipping out of 4 LOW. Do this with the transmission in neutral.
Mine got stuck in 4L once in very cold/very snowy conditions. Not thinking, I parked the truck for the night with the 4x4 still locked in. When I came back to start the truck in the morning, after a good long time to get her started, I discovered what I had done. It was probably about 0 degrees that morning. I had to rock her back and forth a few time, but the 4x4 FINALLY unlocked.........
