AC compressor ticking noise?
I have a 90' F-150 that had leaked out all the R12 on a noy so tight fitting. After tightening the fitting I bought a 134 retrofit kit at wal-mart and did the conversion as per the instructions and after pulling vacum! The AC has been working for about a year now although it was never really cold! Recently the compressor has developed a ticking noise and while in traffic the other day, the AC stopped blowing cold air? I turned it off and later that day went to look into it but when I started the truck it seemed to be working although the ticking is still there! any advice on why it's ticking or why it stopped working and now it's back?

Wow. Could be a bunch of things. Compressor on its way out, bearings, etc. As for the quitting and starting to work again issue, my guess is as good as anyone's, especially since it only did it once.
