clapping sound on a valve...

ever since i added my headers on my 390, i get this clapping sound on one valve. however once my oil pressure builds up it goes away slightly. at higher speeds like 60 it comes back and stays.

Are you sure Its not an exhaust leak at the head?

it sounds like the header gaskets are leaking. ohhh the wonderful world of header gaskets !!!

I too believe this is the problem. A headers leak sound can be identical to a lifter noise.
