i have a 94 sport and it skips at idle but does not skip at higher rpms and there are no codes present and check engine light is not on
here are a few things i have done to it
retorqued upper and lower intake manifold
had 2 diffrent garages put it on the computer and both times they say everything is in speck
replaced mass air flow sensor
complete tuneup with motocraft platinum plugs all plugs were white like it had a lean mixture
checked for vacume leaks with a stethascope and with carb clean
run fuel injector cleaner for 1 month straight at every fill up
run water into the vacuum lines to remove any carbon deposits in the heads
removed and cleaned the egr valve
checked pcv valve and ball still moves
not sure what else to do this problem is driving me nuts
should i take it to the dealer and have them clean the injectors and do a fuel pressure check
>run fuel injector cleaner for 1 month straight at every fill
>up
I guess you are talking about that cheap off the shelf cleaner. This stuff has never worked for me. Go to the store and buy the injector cleaner that does not go in the tank. You hook up the can of cleaner to your fuel lines and roun the car off the cleaner. if you dont want to do this yourself the go ahead and take it to a repair shop or the dealer and they will do it for you.
Did you replace the plug wires ? With the engine idling, spray all the plugs and wires with a water bottle and see if you induce any spark jump. Also 4.0 engines were prone to crack heads and it would cause plug fouling on start up and at idle due to coolant in the cylinder that would eventually burn off and then run smooth.
Which engine do you have ,4.0 push rod or sohc ?
did you replace the intake manifold gaskets ? they burn up and dry out
need replaced alot.
every plug was white ?or just a few, this makes a big difference when trying to find out whats wrong.
Did you try pulling a plug wire at idle to see if you could isolate the
bad cylinder? insulated pliers ! please
