The axle bearing for the 8.8 and 9.75 are they the same? On some web sites they are the same. Carquest parts store lists they are different. Hey 97 Centurion, be sure you can loosen your fill plug first. Can't get mine loose yet. Soaking it now with Thrust.

The bearings should be the same for both the 8.8 and 9.75.
An easy way to fill the diff after you've got the cover back on is to remove the ABS sensor from the top of the diff and pour the oil in there.
Most jugs of gear oil have spouts with them so it's easy to do.

The bearings and seal were too large, used the Ford # on the seal and crossed it, and then got the bearing to go with it. Actually I used the bearing repair kit one, which rides on a new part of the shaft. It's all together. Going to fill it tomorrow. it calls for synthetic 75W140. Good idea about the ABS sensor to fill it,fill plug came loose any how. Thanks again

I think that the bearings that were too big were probably for a 10.25 rear end.

A few years ago I bought a gallon of 85w90 gear oil, with a hand pump attatched.I still use it;I just pour my oil in the container and pump it in the differential. They sell the same type pumps at Wal-Mart.Just use an old antifreeze jug to put your oil in and attatch the pump.Volia!
