My '74 needs kingpins, so I plan to remove the complete axle assemblies and replace them with a rebuilt pair. The replacements are from a '78 (I think). I got a kingpin kit and found that the 7/8" pins in the kit are much too small. It seems they should be at least 1". I know that kingpin size won't matter once the beams are assembled, but now I'm concerned that the kingpin size is not the only difference. Can I be sure that the replacement beams will bolt in place of the originals and that the '74 bearings and brake parts will fit?
Eric
65-74 (65-72 are drum spindles)use one size and 75-79 use another size.
the I beams need the right spindles
73-74 disk spindles fit 65-74 beams, 75-79 spindles fit 75-79 beams
the beam/spindle/radius arm assembly as a whole will bolt into any 2wd truck from 65-79
All F100/F150 spindles from 73-79 use the same brakes and bearings.
All F250 spindles from 73-79 use the same brakes and bearings.
