So, I found the air box at the junkyard and put in on my 74'-390. I found everything in different trucks. I purchased the duct at Autozone. You just have to have the measurement of the plastic and the airbox inlet to get the right size. It works good.

Hey, I just put a steel fuel line from the carb to the pump and wrapped it in Thermo-Tec sheathing. First run, it was condensating the carb spacer. So, keeping the fuel line cooler, worked well. The wife, whom drives it daily said it purred like a sleeping Tiger.

Do Tigers purr?

The snorkel on my '78 400 has been removed, and I see a lot of pictures of engines without them. My question is: Am I sacrificing some efficiency, and, am I losing air flow through the fan shroud by having an open hole where the duct attaches to the grill?

Probabally the most important thing you are losing is colder denser air to the intake.
