Steering Wheels

Here is the problem: A 1966 Dodge Town Wagon. The steering wheel, while good, has a huge chunk out of it. So, we started looking for new custom steering wheels, grant steering wheels, etc. The problem is, bigger is better! All we find is steering wheels they claim are for trucks, but they are 14-15 inch steering wheels! That is a steering wheel? Anyhow, has anyone found a bigger steering wheel? 17-20 inch? Kenworth has some big ones, even 22 inch ones! However, the splines may not work since it is a semi steering wheel. What does anyone do for a big meaty steering wheel? Also, it will help since the truck has no power steering also! Has anyone used the kenworth steering wheels?

I don't know about a new ,one but you might find a good used one at a salvage yard. Most crush out their old stuff but if you search around you can find some with the old classics.

Unless you are prepared to install power steering, DON"T put on a smaller steering wheel.
I don't have a link, but I understand that there are some places that restore steering wheels. Try doing a search for... "steering wheel restoration" or alike term. Use the quotation marks as well.

There are truck salvage yards around that may have a selection of big wheels, maybe even a direct replacement.

Check with the Eastwood company. They sell a line of steering wheel repair products --epoxies and paints.

A 17" steering wheel is easy to find as it's a common stock car part.

I always went for the welded chain steering wheels myself.
