I just returned home from a 1200 mile round trip to the beach.
A little over halfway home i stopeed to fill up, i noticed something brown in the condensation on the ground. I looked under my truck and form around the plate where the T/C is was leaking fluid. I pulled the dip-stick and it read nothing. I bought some fluid, filled it up and got it home. This morning i checked under the truck and there is still some fluid dripping slowly.
All the bolts seem tight, is there a seal that can go bad?
Or am i looking at worse problems?
It sounds like the front seal on the tranny, mine went about a month ago. You said the fluid was brown? If so then the fluid is burnt and not able to do it's job, you need to drain the pan and t/c, check the magnet in the bottom of the pan for metal.
Harry, the tranny guy I use was $350.00, have to pull the tranny to get to the front seal, also put my guages in next day, boy was I shocked to see what the egt's and tranny temp were doing.
yes the converter does have a drain on it. it has a plug on the outer edge of the converter. take the sheet metal inspection cover off and rotate your engine with a bar on the ring gear for the starter until the plug comes around.
