What kind of vibration are you guys talking about? I get a little bit of "nibble" in the steering wheel at about 50-60mph. Anything over or under is OK.
Well, had it re-aligned and tires rotated at a local shop. Smooth sailing now.
My '04 f150 lariat is doing the same thing! I have had the tires/wheels checked/rebalanced 3 times and now I have learned that Ford is apparently having some sort of suspension problems with the 04's. Let me know what the solution may be if you happen to find out, thanks!
I have experienced pretty much everything described above in my 04 supercrew with the 5.4. They have rotated tires, replaced two tires, the drive shaft, installed the dampening device (which forced me to remove my aftermarket tow hitch), and most recently some steering mechanism for the nibbling.
I am sorry to say after these 6 trips to the dealer I am still experiencing, although significantly less, mild vibrations at 50mph and nibbling at 70mph. In addtion all four tires are showing premature wear. I am concerened to say the least. The problem is not near as bad, but I think it should be perfect. This is my fourth ford, but the first ever new car I have purchased.
I have heard that the Continental Tires are to be blamed for a lot of the problems. My next step I think is to force them to change all four tires to BFGs.
My 04 was fine till I had 20 rims and tires put on it. I recieved them from discount tire direct. The truck had a vibration 60 - 65 . I had a road force balancing done and they said all the tires are out of round. Discount tire sent me new tires and I sent the old ones back. I had the new tires put on and re- balanced and it is worse than ever. I don't know what to do. I did notice that they stuck the wheel weights on the INSIDE rim on the inside edge instead of tgetting closest to the outside of the rim. I can't even drive the truck. One of the rims came up with a minor dent durring the road force. I'm waiting another week and I guess another road force at $30 a tire. Do I take it to the dealer? , will they say , Your problem , aftermarket rims. What do I do?. Thanks and sorry about the rant. Totally frustrated.
Just got off the phone. They did the same test on mine. Two tires failed the road force test. They replaced them. Picking up the truck later today. I'll let you know what I find.... (if it worked or not)
